Staithes is a picturesque and characterful fishing village, set around 10 miles north of Whitby, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed seaside break. Known for its narrow cobbled streets—some of the tightest in the region—the village is a maze of winding lanes, hidden ginnels, and charming corners waiting to be explored. Visitors will find plenty to enjoy, from welcoming pubs and cosy cafés to independent shops, art galleries, and a traditional fish smokehouse. Throughout the year, Staithes also hosts popular events such as real ale and jazz festivals, drawing visitors from far and wide. If you fancy getting out on the water, boat trips to Whitby run regularly, or you can simply enjoy a classic crabbing session from the quay. The surrounding area is perfect for walking too, with scenic routes along the Cleveland Way and coastal paths leading towards Whitby.
This inviting three-storey cottage sits just moments from the beach and offers a warm, traditional feel throughout. Inside, you’ll find a cosy interior featuring wooden floors, exposed beams, and an original working fireplace—perfect for unwinding after a day exploring the coast. Relax on the comfortable sofas with a film on the Smart TV, or gather around the dining table for meals together. A set of stone steps leads down to the well-equipped, modern kitchen, complete with breakfast bar, electric oven and hob, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and washing machine—everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Upstairs, the first floor offers a spacious double bedroom, a single room, and a family bathroom with a bath, shower over, and WC. Continue up another set of stairs (with a low ceiling, so take care) to reach the top floor, where you’ll find a generous triple room with both a double and single bed.
A parking permit is included for one vehicle at the Bank Top public car park, located within 500 metres at the top of the village, with additional pay-and-display parking available for longer stays. Please note that due to the steep hill leading into the village, as well as narrow staircases and low ceilings within the property, this cottage may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
